Research position – Singapore

The Centre for International Law (CIL) and the NUS Energy Studies Institute (ESI) recently secured a joint research grant for nuclear law and policy research pursuant to the Singapore Government’s Nuclear Policy Research Programme.

NUS-logoThe project will be for a term of three years beginning 4th January 2016 and will focus on two main research areas: (i) the international and regional regulatory and legislative frameworks relating to nuclear safety and security; and (ii) civil and international nuclear liability for third party harm/damage.

CIL is seeking to recruit a full-time Senior Research Fellow/Research Fellow who should possess a doctorate in international law. Candidates with nuclear law and policy qualifications and prior experience working with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) or other international and inter-governmental nuclear agencies will have a distinct advantage. Candidates possessing specific expertise in the following areas with a minimum of 6 to 8 years work experience are also encouraged to apply: international regulatory and legislative regimes generally; state responsibility and international liability; and international environmental law, in particular transboundary pollution. The successful applicant would be expected to take up the position before the end of March 2016. The level of appointment will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
