Nuclear Energy and Law – 3rd Annual Winter Course

The Nuclear Law Association, India, is happy to announce that it will be holding its 3rd annual certificate course on “Nuclear Energy and Law”, between Monday 11 to Friday 15 January, 2016.

The 5-day course will be held at the TERI University, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The course will be followed by a one-day site visit to the Narora Nuclear Power Plant on Saturday 16 January, 2016 (for Indian nationals only).

This multidisciplinary program will familiarize the participants with the basic understanding of nuclear science and technology; the functioning of a nuclear power plant; the role played by the IAEA; the various international nuclear treaties; the regulatory structures and liability regimes in various jurisdictions; including India’s nuclear laws and judicial decisions pertaining to the nuclear energy sector; while also focusing on the legal history and international engagement from a wider Global South perspective.

The lecturers will include experienced Supreme Court lawyers, law professors, esteemed nuclear scientists, representatives from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), India’s Foreign Service, as well as from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the OECD’s Nuclear Energy Agency.
