The Third Annual Meet of the Nuclear Law Association India (NLAIN), which was held on Saturday 1st March, 2014, at New Delhi, had as its overarching theme “Nuclear Energy and Indian Society: Public Engagement, Risk Assessment and Legal Frameworks”.
It was the NLAIN’s endeavour to bring civil society concerns to the fore and create a platform to deliberate on public engagement, consultation and acceptance of nuclear energy projects in India, as well as have foreign participants touch upon the public engagement models adopted in their jurisdictions.
The Third Annual Meet was attended by representatives from the department of atomic energy, NPCIL, civil society, academia, journalists, lawyers and foreign participants.
The summary of the proceedings of the Conference will be published in the forthcoming edition of the Nuclear Law Bulletin. Moreover, a special issue of Journal of Risk Research, Taylor and Francis will publish the invited and selected papers.
